The godwit spent time "sky watching" today, 7-24. Following its gaze on 3 occasions found Turkey Vultures cruising by quite high. It followed each TV out of sight but never seemed very concerned. One glance, which turned into a stare, pointed to a Peregrine Falcon, dangling leg included (the same falcon as seen on Sunday?). The godwit "sank" into the marsh grass for a short time, returning to its "normal" behavior after only a few minutes. The falcon was quite high and seen very briefly by just myself.

This wonderful vagrant has really "settled in" at this location just south of the salt pans. It was in view all day Sunday and Monday with coverage of the area by many birders confirming this. When first seen on the 17th it would fly to the back pool if I moved to quickly or if a car started in the area. During the 3 1/2 hours I observed it on the 24th, with 20 or so other folks coming and going, it never flew or showed any fear of the large gathering and all of its accompanying noise.
