The "Other" John Nelson, from Ipswich, posted the following to MassBird.
| After seeing the Slaty-Backed gull and leaving the Fish Pier this
morning I took a ride up to the Rockport Country Club in search of
Bohemians. I was the third birder to see a Townsend's Solitaire. We had
very good looks and one of the birders (I'm sorry, I did not catch his
name) said he was from Colorado and had seen many. Thanks to Michael
Duffy who was the first to spot the bird and make the ID. The bird was
located in the brush along the right side of the fairway behind the
bottom lot. There is a garage with 3 doors at the edge of the lot and
the bird was about 100 yards further back while walking along the grass
to the right. Fortunately, we were able to relocate the bird about an hour later and at least 15 more birders had excellent looks. Happy Holidays! John Nelson Ipswich |
